People with this disorder could alternate between depressive and hypomanic episodes. When people is suffering from a hypomanic episode, they feel that their mind is wide open and they are feeling elated. This situation may last for four days or more. For normal people, when they feel happy or sad, there are always be reasons for those.

After a hypomanic episode, people with Bipolar II disorder will enter the depressive episode. At the moment, they may feel useless with a feeling of helplessness and an overall negative outlook. Unlike normal people, the depressive episode can be severe enough that affected individuals start to think about suicide and death.

So, it’s clear that people with Bipolar II disorder will find it difficult to get on with daily tasks, such as studying, work and other activities. In a more serious case, Bipolar II disorder could enter the rapid cycling phase. It happens when the cycles of hypomanic and depressive episodes happen four times or more each year. Rapid cycling could happen when people are not getting treatment. If you have unexplained episodes of extreme happiness or sadness, then you should find a psychiatrist.

If you want to maintain a proper lifestyle, you should take symptoms of Bipolar II disorder seriously. If this condition is left untreated, it will only get worse. You need to always observe any mental symptom or sign that can indicate potential mental issues. It’s a good idea to have a long cooperation with a psychiatrist who you can trust. Professional assistance is necessary, before any mental problems take hold. If you are responsive enough, the condition can be rectified only with mindset and lifestyle adjustments. When the condition is severe enough, you will need to get prescribed medication.

Whenever possible, you should make sure that you don’t need any medication to treat your condition. The best way to do this is by monitoring your condition regularly. You should always improve mental toughness to reduce your vulnerability to mental problems. If you can stabilize your mood, it is more likely for you feel better again. If possible, you should get support and help from your family. It takes time to treat Bipolar II disorder, so you may need long-term management and constant care from professionals and your loved ones. Whatever happens, make sure that you get treated early.
