How to Have an Anxiety-Proof Lifestyle?

Anxiety and panic attack are common mental problems that affect many people. When you have anxiety attacks, you are not only feeling being out of control. You will also experience physical symptoms like nausea, chest pain, accelerated heart beat and sudden weakness. You may think that you are having a heart attack and death is imminent. This is a horrifying situation and can make your anxiety even worse.

Many people go to the hospital thinking that they are having a heart problem, but after various tests, the problem is determined as severe panic attack. This condition may have symptoms that are similar to cardiac event. Unlike heart problems, you may return to normal in just one hour. Once you identify this condition, it’s time for you to stop anything that triggers the attack. Busy professionals who have many stressors in their lives could be more vulnerable to anxiety attacks. Here are things they should do:

  • Reduce consumption of coffee: It’s important for you to cut back on coffee. It’s a fact that caffeine can make distressed people feel jittery. Caffeine overload is a potential situation for having anxiety attack. To reduce caffeine consumption, you should consider drinking green tea or decaffeinated coffee instead. They still taste quite good and you can significantly reduce bad effects of caffeine.
  • Avoid drugs and alcohol: Both substances can alter your mental conditions. Avoid attempting to self medicate yourself with drugs and alcohol. They can give a sense of euphoria and an immediate numbing effect, but they will be replaced immediately with neurological imbalance and depression. Drugs and alcohol could also affect your thinking pattern. If you are vulnerable to anxiety attacks, both substances can make your condition more severe. Illegal drugs can be more addictive and lethal than alcohol. Also, ownership and usages of illegal drugs may land you in jail, which doesn’t help your mental condition. Just think about having a panic attack in the county jail, it’s enough to make you feel anxious.
  • Consume complex carbohydrate: Having a portion of complex carbohydrate during the night could make you feel more relaxed. A big plate of whole grain pasta or bread could make you calm and sleepy and calm before you go to bed. This should be a good solution if you think that anxiety attacks are imminent.
  • Get enough sleep: If you get adequate sleep or rest, you will feel more relaxed and calmer. If you think that anxiety attacks are coming back, you should sleep until you can’t sleep anymore. Anxiety and stress could be an indication that you need a much needed rest. If you don’t have enough sleep, your mind and body could be weakened. Sleep deprivation is a big indication that you are experiencing stress. There are many drawbacks if you feel sleepy during the day. You should allow your body to rejuvenate and recuperate properly during the night.

By adhering to these lifestyle changes, you could significantly reduce the intensity and frequency of anxiety attacks. You need to be devoted to your lifestyle changes to end your anxiety attacks.
