We can’t be 100% sure about the causes of most of the mental disorders but we can describe some of the most common factors which play their role in development of a number of mental problems. These causes, which might also be combination of multiple factors, could be environmental, psychological or biological. It is also important to mention here that the causes of a mental disorder may vary from person to person. Some of the most common causes and factors are as follow:
Cause # 1: Problems in Early Life
This is one of the most common factors which may lead to development of mental disorders especially when abusive attitude is shown to the kids in early life. Some kids go through traumatic attack or lose their parent in early life and it becomes too difficult for them to spend their lives with normal pattern.
Cause # 2: Genetic Factors in Family
Many diseases are caused by genetic factors that run in family and various studies have proved that the genetic factors could actually play a terrible role in metal illnesses. Though, it is not like you will always have problems if someone in your family has it but off course it can greatly increase the risk. For example, neurotransmitters which are chemicals found in human brain and help in building communication between brain and nerve can also cause problems if not working properly. To restore regular functioning of the brain, it is important to take necessary medications recommended by doctor. This is something you can’t ignore as the problem may get worse with the passage of time.
Cause # 5: War, Poverty & Social Life
Those who migrate from one place to another due of war, genocide or any other form of violence usually have higher risks of getting mental diseases. In the similar way, the poor and needy people who find it difficult to meet both ends might also have higher level of issues. Those who don’t have much social cohesion might also go through some difficulties. A number of doctors believe that the disappearance of traditional values and frantic modern life can also be among the major causes.

Nobody can deny the connection between mental illnesses and drug usage. A person can be recommended by a doctor to take certain drugs for a certain period of time to suppress symptoms and the same drug could also be a major cause to trigger some other symptoms. Alcohol, marijuana, amphetamines, cocaine and even caffeine have also been proven to be closely linked to mental disorders.
