Busy professionals often don’t have the proper eating habit and they could be inclined to just grab anything available in the restaurant. Unfortunately, the relatively sedentary lifestyle and unrestricted eating habit could cause you to pack on the pounds. You could be quite busy, but you may spend most of the time sitting down in front of the computer or inside vehicles. Your sole form of exercise is probably just regular walking at short distances. In reality, losing weight can be a quite daunting task if you are not committed to it. You may need to burn about 4000 calories to lose one pound of excess weight. It’s easy to overeat for three days and gain one pound, while burning one pound of fat in a week can be quite troublesome. Here are things you should do:
- Take it slow: It is a mistake trying to lose much weight all at once. This is especially true if you are quite overweight. Instead, you should have a sensible weekly goal. Be committed and make sure that you have small changes in your life, which can bring you closer to your current goal. Whatever changes you make, be sure that they are long lasting. If you are committed to your fitness and long-term health, you are getting there, a little at a time.
- Drink enough water: It will be hard for you to lose weight if you are dehydrated continuously. If you drink less than recommended, your metabolism level may not work at full tilt. In fact, it’s quite easy to mistake your thirst for hunger. So, when you crave for wet foods, such as ice cream or milkshake, consider whether you are actually thirsty. If you aren’t hungry, it’s not wise to eat anything, including yogurt or vegetables. During normal days, it’s considered enough for adults to drink 8 glasses on a daily basis. If it’s humid and warm, then it’s probably a good idea to drink 10 glasses or more.
- Do passive exercise: Passive exercise is essentially your daily routine that can be considered as light exercise. As an example, you could take the stairs rather than the elevator. You may also get off the bus two stops early and then walk to the destination. You may also window shop in a big mall and walk briskly. If you enjoy staying in the mall, you can walk for 45 minutes without feeling too tired. However, you shouldn’t end it in the food court and eat a big meal. Again, bring enough water with you while walking, so it’s less likely for you to feel hungry.
- Eat fresh food: Fruits and vegetables can be great addition in your daily meals. Today, there are already many vegan restaurants that offer tasty low-calories dishes. Look for such restaurants in your area, so you can lose weight more easily. Fruits and vegetables should help you to prevent various health problems, such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Because vegetables and fruits are full of fiber, you will feel full quite easily.
